I wore this on Monday to a mock interview. I spent all weekend trying to figure out what to wear. The mock interview had the possibility of leading to a real one, so I wanted to make a good impression. I was surprised when I showed up that it was…not what I thought it was. I thought it was for a corporate job but it turned out to be retail, which is not really what I’m looking for. I think the write-up online was wrong. Either that, or I can’t read. It took me like five minutes to figure out that I was not interviewing for what I thought I was. It was a confusing time. Haha.

It was good practice, though and I got feedback from the interviewer. He told me I needed to be more confident and less nervous, but I think that was kind of a given. I actually did better than I thought I was overall. I blanked on names twice, but my voice wasn’t shaking and I was able to have a bit of conversation with the interviewer. I always forget names of things/people when I’m nervous. Another bright spot was that when I checked in, the woman at the front desk said, “Oh, I thought you were from the company. You look so nice!” So, I may need some work on the actual interview, but at least I look the part.

I actually really liked this outfit and will probably wear it again for presentations…and maybe if I do get an office marketing job when I graduate! I do like the challenge of making work wear fashionable and fun.

I hope you all had a good week! Good luck if you have any interviews!

You look absolutely perfect for a corporate interview – the detailing on that blouse is beautiful! And congrats on doing well! Everyone gets a little nervous, but if you can make conversation and look the part you’re half way there! 🙂 x
