Taking the Pumpkin by the Stem

Hi everyone!

I wore this…at some point? I honestly don’t even remember when now. I’m so far behind on posts. Oh, well! I really liked this outfit…and may have worn it two to three times in one week. I’m disgusting, I know.

I’ve had a wonderful weekend spending time with my friends Sarah and Molly. Now that we’re 21, we finally have places to hang out at night other than coffee shops. I’ve found a liking for grapefruit beer and have been enjoying going to the less popular bars in town. I like that there’s space to move around and you’re not yelling over a hundred hammered people. There are times when those places can be fun, but you definitely have to be in the mood for them. I prefer to just relax with the girls and drink a beer or two over good conversation.

I feel like I sound like a pretentious snob, but really I’m just incapable of communicating in crowded places. I can barely speak at an audible level in normal life, so put me in a bar and my voice has a radius of about three inches. I can’t hear anyone either. So I just wind up sitting there having no idea what’s going on.

Yesterday I went to the Keene Pumpkin Festival with Sarah. It was a beautiful drive up, singing along to Van Morrison, using the heat for the first time in months, taking in the mountains and the foliage, driving through three states in an hour over green bridges and rocky rivers.

The festival itself was really cool. They had over 20,000 carved pumpkins! Sarah and I kept saying we felt like we were in Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. There was even a little square with a gazebo on which a 1960’s Beatles cover band was playing, it was great.
