This outfit was inspired by both Cher Horowitz of Clueless and Lady Brett Ashley of The Sun Also Rises . While I don’t think Brett actually wore anything like this, being that she lived in the 1920’s and preferred androgynous style, this is how I pictured her, but with a black turtleneck, motorcycle boots, and a newsboy cap. Apparently I thought she was channeling sixties mod forty years early.
I’ve wanted a plaid skirt ever since I read that book four years ago because of her. I have a bad habit of ignoring character descriptions and just picturing things however I please. I’m not sure why I was so inspired by her, given that I’m nothing like her. She was a man eater and I’m more of a man repeller.
Side note: just finished reading the Man Repeller’s book and I loved it! I had heard of her blog, but had never read it. That didn’t really matter. She’s hilarious and is not afraid to tell embarrassing stories, which I really appreciate.
