Every Rose Has It’s Thorn

I finally 1) wore an outfit that I hadn’t posted yet, and 2) got out to take some pictures!

I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. I stopped at a local inn on my way home from school and set up my tripod. I was a little nervous to be having a random photo shoot in pubic, but luckily there weren’t many people around. I still got in and out of there quickly, though.

I love this skirt. I just got it in the mail and it is actually the right length for me. Crazy! It was pretty inexpensive too, only $17 including shipping. I have been wanting a skirt like this for about two years, but I could never find one I liked. A few weeks ago I pinned yet another outfit with a similar skirt, and I decided I would try my luck on ebay. I found a ton of sellers, but this one was the best color and price. I was a little nervous because it’s ebay, and it was from China, so I couldn’t exactly return it, but it’s great! It shipped pretty quickly too; I think it took eight days to get to me.

Anyway, it was Meg’s birthday (Happy Birthday Meg!), so when I got home I made her a chocolate raspberry cake. I’m usually horrible at baking and forget key ingredients (like the pumpkin in pumpkin squares…yeah), but this came out pretty well.

We had a funny moment when we lit the candles. They started sparking, and no one knew why. I think Meg got a little nervous that she was going to catch on fire from an errant spark.

It turns out I had bought trick candles and had no idea!

Surprise!

Later in the night I went to Starbucks with my old roommate Natali to get a pumpkin spice latte and chat. Then we went back to her apartment and had in impromptu photo shoot. I asked her if I could photograph her outfit for here, and she gladly complied. She’s a great model, much better at posing than I am!
