The House of The Rising Sun

Hey guys!

This shoot is from last month. I literally don’t know what I have been doing with my time. Like, I think I’ve been being productive but I don’t know for sure?
It’s weird not having a set work schedule anymore. I wake up late and don’t usually start working until the afternoon, which feels like a lazy person move, but then I wind up working until like 11 or 12.
So, I guess I’ve been doing stuff? I covered my first three weddings and edited each of them in a week, so that felt good. I finally got my wedding page and pricing done and created a pretty wedding guide pdf. That felt like a big accomplishment!
Since then, I’ve been working on a fun styled wedding shoot that I’m organizing. I’ve also been trying to create a lot of marketing materials.

I just finished this video today. It’s ridiculous, but fitting.

I’ve been trying to balance working and also having a life. Which isn’t that difficult because most of my friends are in eastern mass, so I don’t have a ton of people to hang out with. It has been nice being with my family again. Seth and I went rock climbing last night and then out for drinks. I tried to order my favorite go-to beer at the local bar and they don’t make it anymore, which is a real bummer.
But after that we went to UMass and snuck into Greeno sub shop, it was fun and delicious.

I got this dress a while ago for $12 at TJMaxx, which is crazy because it’s Free People! Also, I wore hair extensions here for the first time ever. I bought them last winter, but they wound up being only a few inches longer than my natural hair, so I didn’t really see the point.
For this look, I wound up clipping them halfway down my hair because sometimes you gotta make it work.

I mean, is this even a fashion blog anymore? Was it ever?
I’m just going to let it flow and see what happens!

Fall Lookbook

Hello Everyone!

I had a free Sunday to myself, so obviously I wound up filming a video. It’s always nice when I force myself to get off the couch and actually explore my surroundings.

It turns out I don’t have to venture far to find some pretty cool places. I discovered a land preserve, a public farm & flower garden, and a bunch of dogs! What more can a girl ask for?

Outfit 1
Sweater: Old Navy (last season) similar at L.L. Bean
Skirt: Norstrom Rack (very old) Found one on Poshmark
Ankle Boots: Target (last season) similar at H&M

Outfit 2
Sweater: Loft
Pants: G.H. Bass (old) similar at Ann Taylor
Ankle Boots: Jeffrey Campbell
Glasses: Amazon

Outfit 3
Sweater: Lucky Brand via TJMaxx similar
Ankle Boots: Jeffrey Campbell

It was drizzly and cool on Sunday, but I was loving it. I am even more excited about fall than I normally am because A) I’m not in school anymore, and B) My apartment is no longer a living sauna. I actually slept with the window CLOSED the other night. It was a real milestone.

I am super excited about fall fashion as well. I’ve said this before, but working an office job and not being able to wear my go-to denim cut-offs in the summer made me dislike the warm weather fashions even more. I always get excited for summer fashion, but in reality wearing short skirts in not plausible because either my Spanx show or I suffer through thigh chafe, and dresses are becoming more difficult. Anyway, I’m looking forward to covering my body in as many layers as is humanly possible in the colder months.

I may emerge again come spring.

Haberdash Vintage Festival Lookbook

Long time, no blog!

Hey, guys! I’m so happy to be sharing this video with you. Lookbooks are one of my all-time favorite things to make, and this one was no exception.

I love working with Ali, Alanna, and Cara. They are all such sweet girls and I had so much running around filming and taking pictures.
It was actually pretty chilly on the day we filmed this, so the blanket worked out to be more than just a prop.

And again, I was so impressed with Ali’s innate ability to choose clothes for other people. She managed to find pieces that fit all of us perfectly without any fittings.

Check out the rest of Haberdash Vintage’s awesome festival wear at 138 Green Street, Worcester, MA.

Hazy Days Lookbook

I’ve been working on this video on and off the last two weeks. I’m not super happy with it, but if I spend any more time working on it I’m either go to throw my computer out the window and/or murder someone, so I’m calling it done.

Here’s to hoping my rage simmers down and I’m a normal, functioning human for the rest of the day!

Video: Sunday

This video is a little addition to last week’s post.

This weekend was also full of fun. Friday night I went out for dinner and drinks with Sarah and Marlena and their friend Elvis. I had a couple yummy but also gross mango mai tais. Basically the mango part was yummy and the alcohol part was gross.

The Saturday my friend Abbie came out and we explored Harvard Square. We got awesome burritos and cupcakes and then went in a bunch of shops. I got the Anthropologie volcano candle that I’ve been hemming and hawing about for roughly two years. It is wonderful.

Saturday night Abbie and I stayed in and watched a never ending string of Try Guys videos while eating ice cream.

Then today my friend Ali came out and we went thrift shopping. I found an awesome lomo style camera that probably doesn’t work, but looks pretty cool anyway. We got more Mexican food, which I was not upset about. I could eat Mexican for pretty much every meal and be happy.

Now it’s time for me to hit the hay!

Video: Get Ready With Me

Top: AE (similar) | Skirt: F21, similar at Asos | Shoes: Target, similar at Asos

I’ve officially done my first Get Ready Me Video. Given my lack of makeup skills, I didn’t know if this would ever happen, but I got inspired one morning and went for it.

I’ve definitely been getting more into videos now that I work on them so frequently at my job. I really love the process of filming and editing. I just wish I had other people to film! I do plan on doing some more lookbooks in the future, with models.

Now it’s time to enjoy my Galentine’s Day and watch a funny movie!

Seattle Travel Vlog

Music: “Good Help (Is So Hard to Find)” by Death Cab for Cutie – “Mustang Kids” by Zella Day

Last week my dad and I flew out to Seattle to vacation with my aunts. It was such an amazing trip. We managed to visit mountains, beaches, rivers, a lake, and the only rainforest in North America, all in the span of a few days. Washington is really an awesome state. A few hours in any direction can take you from the city, to the mountains, to the beach.

The beaches there are so different from the ones on the east coast. They’re cold and windy, with black sand or pebbles and huge pieces of drift wood and sea stacks. One of my top moments of the trip was visiting Ruby Beach. Seeing the massive sea stacks and watching the sun set over the water was kind of surreal.

We stayed pretty unplugged during the trip (except a few Instagram posts), which was a breath of fresh air. We spent the nights sitting by a fire, sipping cocktails and playing board games while listening to music. During the days we took nature walks, played bocce, lounged around. I even swam in a glacial lake! It was freezing, but totally worth it.

I hope you all enjoy the video!

Have a great week!

PS: Obviously, I had to include Death Cab music in the video since they’re my favorite band and they’re from Seattle!

PPS: I got the name of the first beach wrong. It was Rialto, not La Push.

Martha’s Vineyard Travel Vlog

I went to Martha’s Vineyard for quick day trip with my brother last week. It was my first time being able to explore the island.

I really enjoyed wandering around to the campground cottages. The area was originally a bunch of tents, so it was called the campground. During the 1800’s a church group came in and people began building houses, but the name stuck. All of the houses are fun, bright colors and they have such detailed, delicate trim work and ornaments.

It was really nice sitting on the coast, watching the waves and the boats. The busy season hadn’t really started yet, so it wasn’t very crowded. Snapchat had this cool geo filter, which was very exciting for me. I’m not often in places that are popular enough to have their own geo filters.

I hope you’re all having a great week! I’ll be in Seattle by the time this is posted. I’m sure there will be some cool filters there! Yay!!!
